If you host multiple websites within the same account and one of them is hacked, it's very likely that all of them will get hacked afterwards. There are several reasons why this may happen, the two most common are: using really weak passwords or using out-of-date scripts with well-known vulnerabilities. That way, one single compromised site will do a lot of damage to all of your websites, since getting access to one script often allows hackers to access the hosting account. This is the reason why we've developed an innovative security option called JailHost. Once turned on, this feature will literally lock an Internet site within its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, the remaining websites in the account will be hidden. Thus they will be protected from further intrusion. The JailHost option doesn't imply that you should not keep your sites up-to-date, but it will significantly reduce the damage.

JailHost in Shared Website Hosting

In case you host your sites within a shared website hosting account from our company, you'll be able to protect them using the JailHost option with just a few clicks within your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is accessible with all plans and can be enabled for each folder because the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have individual folders, so that files for many different websites do not get mixed up like it usually happens with other Control Panels. We haven't activated JailHost by default because you may use scripts which need access to folders outside the primary website folder and this option could interfere with their proper functioning, but protecting all other folders is very simple. In case any secured website gets hacked for whatever reason, we will be able to recover it promptly as we'll have multiple daily backups of your entire account and you will even be able to browse the available backups from Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account, you'll be able to start JailHost with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel as we've included this option in all of our semi-dedicated packages. It isn't active by default for the reason that you might use an app which requires access to other folders inside the account and JailHost could cause problems, but you can protect all other websites by isolating them from one another. This is quite easy as in Hepsia all domains and subdomains have separate folders. In contrast, a number of other Control Panels store the content of multiple websites in subfolders under a primary domain, so a single hacked Internet site there means that all of them will be hacked. With Hepsia, only one website can get damaged and even if this happens, we can quickly restore it via the multiple daily backup copies which we will keep, meaning that you can go ahead and update it after that so as to protect it from potential future attacks.
